Deputy Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, the Command spokesman, stated this in a statement in Minna on Friday.
The police team, backed by the vigilante group in the area, came as the bandits embarked on killing of the villagers.
This was disclosed by the Niger State Government and also confirmed by the Niger State Police Command on Thursday.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Monday-Bala Kuryas, who confirmed the incident, said the worshippers were killed during early morning prayer on Thursday.
It should be recalled that the bandits in their numbers stormed the community in the early hours of Monday, went straight to a mosque while the victims were performing their morning prayers (Subhi) and attacked them leaving several others injured.
The worshippers, according to available information on Monday, where shot dead in the early hours of the day.
It was gathered that three of the suspects, Suleiman Abubakar, 50; Babuga Mamman, 42; Abdullahi Dogo, 31, all from Sabon Pegi Mashegu, were arrested by police operatives attached to Ibbi Division.
Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger, while inspecting the collapsed bridge, said that re-construction of the bridge was part of the state government’s intervention to provide a temporary bridge to ease movement of road users.
The local council boss said if a staff missed work for a day without any cogent reason, a day’s pay would be deducted from his salary accordingly
