Indian Police on Tuesday charged a Roman Catholic Bishop Franco Mulakkal, with repeatedly raping a nun in a convent, officials said.

“The elderly woman was sleeping on the verandah of her house when she was attacked by the inebriated man.

According to the newspaper, the Nigerians and their Indian accomplice were found in  possession of a wide variety of drugs, including cocaine, brown sugar and amphetamine. 

Police said the bus was travelling between two towns in the hill state when it skidded off the wet mountain road with hairpin bends and plunged into the 200-metre deep river gorge below.

The woman, identified as Sunita Verlekar, was rescued by police from her parents’ home in North Goa’s Candolim village, following a tip-off by a well-known women’s rights organisation, Bailancho Saad.
