The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, gave the renewed directive on the enforcement of the ban with effect from Tuesday 25th May, 2021 after a strategic security meeting with the Area Commanders, Heads of Departments and Tactical Commanders held on Monday 24th May, 2021, at the Conference Room, Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos.

The POWA president, who was received by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, arrived Lagos in company of the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Force Directorate of Education, Rabi Umar; her staff officers and the national executive members of POWA from the POWA national secretariat, Abuja.

Police spokesman in the state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that preliminary investigation revealed that the mentally challenged woman had been living in the area for several years before she was lynched and set ablaze by some hoodlums on the allegation of being in possession of a baby and three AK-47 rifles.

She also appealed for understanding on the decision of the state government to ban the commercial motorcycles (popularly known as Okada), saying it was important for the provisions of relevant laws to be enforced to sanitize the environment.

According to statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday, the order for the arrest was given during interrogation and interview session with the leaders by the Commissioner of Police at the Conference Room, State Headquarters, Ikeja, on Tuesday.

Regularly, the command has been arresting traffic robbers who terrorise and dispossess innocent people of their belongings in the state while many of them are being kept at bay due to the consistency and commitment of the command in tackling the menace and other forms of criminality in the state.
