While the All Progressives Congress cleared all the chairmanship seats, the Peoples Democratic Party and Accord Party had seven councillors between them.

Speaking while swearing-in the newly democratically elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa, Governor Ambode described the judgment as a major success in the quest of the State Government to control its resources and enshrine the true spirit of Fiscal Federalism.
Ambode said this in Ikeja while declaring open the 7th Annual Public Lecture of the Lagos State Public Service Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, with the theme: “Lagos@50: Unlocking Its Economic Potentials For Sustainable Development.”
All the Governors of the States in the region – Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) and Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti) – were present at the meeting conveyed at the instance of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission.
It was a clean sweep for all the 57 chairmanship candidates of the APC as they were all declared winners by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, defeating all their rivals in the keenly contested election.
The poll commenced last week after the Magazine announced a list of eight nominees, selected based on their various performances on four core criteria: Security, Economy, Infrastructure and Accountability.
At the end of counting of the votes cast, the results showed that the APC polled a total of 299 votes for the chairmanship election as against one polled by the Labour Party and zero vote polled by the Peoples Democratic Party and Accord Party.
Ambode said his administration would do everything possible to support Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State at ensuring the success of his government.
Aregbesola said the position of Lagos State as the economic nerve centre of the country and the brilliant performance of the Governor in office could not be downplayed in any form.
