Two of the successful awardees, Tijani Abdulmalik Damilare and Oke Emmanuel Omotola were of the upwardly mobile Ivory Tower,  FUOYE. Tijani is of the Physics Department while Oke is a final year undergraduate of the Department of Theatre and Media Arts. The duo of Tijani and Oke had won the last academic contest of the Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) awards and were officially conferred with the garlands by the founder of the RAYLF, Oba Adeyeye at the Grand ocassion which was well attended by eminent Nigerians at the Oduduwa hall of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife (OAU).

Prof. Fasina who had made known his aversion for cultism on the campus during his maiden address as the new helmsman of the Ivory Tower to fresh students of the 2020/2021 academic session during their orientation exercise last August, said his administration will not spare the rod and spoil the child in matters relating to evil activities on the campus.

Omonijo and Adeyemi were axed for gross misconduct against the university regulations, but by providence, the former had an out-of-court settlement over the matter leading to the notice of his reinstatment as handed out by the Industrial Court of Appeal, Akure division, while the university has already appealed the ruling in favour of the latter in a court of higher jurisdiction. But the two lecturers had gone to the media to falsely accuse FUOYE of disobeying court order which directed that they be reinstated.

The graduands of the two academic sessions in focus will be officially conferred with first, second and third degrees of their respective fields of study on 18th December, 2021 at the grand finale of the weeklong 5th and 6th combined Convocation ceremonies billed for between 13th and 19th December, 2021 on the University main campus in Oye-Ekiti.

According to a press release co-signed by Foluso Ogunmodede, Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Wole Balogun, Special Adviser on Media Matters to the VC, Prof. Fasina made the announcement on Friday during the matriculation ceremony of about 7,000 fresh students of FUOYE which held at the university main auditorium at phase one of the Oye-Ekiti campus.
