 Director of the University’s Directorate of Ventures and investments, Associate Professor Matthew Oluwole Arowolo of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, disclosed the development to the university media team on Thursday.

Prof. Opoola made the recommendation while presenting his inaugural lecture as first Professor of Applied Linguistics of the Ivory Tower. His lecture was entitled: ” Linguistics and Languages as Scientific tools for Nation Building” and with it, he explained how the two fields of study could help in nation building, particularly, in the area of combating violent and immoral acts such as terrorism, kidnapping, cultism, prostitution and hooliganism which unfortunately hold sway in the country today.

It was the 11th matriculation ceremony of the institution which was organised by the University Ceremonial Committee chaired by Prof. Tajudeen Opoola and which comprises deans of the faculties, as well as other officials of the university.

Two of the successful awardees, Tijani Abdulmalik Damilare and Oke Emmanuel Omotola were of the upwardly mobile Ivory Tower,  FUOYE. Tijani is of the Physics Department while Oke is a final year undergraduate of the Department of Theatre and Media Arts. The duo of Tijani and Oke had won the last academic contest of the Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) awards and were officially conferred with the garlands by the founder of the RAYLF, Oba Adeyeye at the Grand ocassion which was well attended by eminent Nigerians at the Oduduwa hall of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife (OAU).
