The Head of Public Affairs, Port-Harcourt Zonal Office of EFCC, Dele Oyewale, made the appeal on Friday in Yenagoa during a one-day Stakeholders Dialogue on the utilisation of 900,000 dollars from former Bayelsa governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

The court order was contained in a judgement delivered by Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua in an appeal instituted by Stodie Ventures Limited against Alamieyeseigha and his wife, Margaret
A former governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, who led the delegation, conveyed the condolences of the group, which comprises former governors who served the country from the inception of the present democratic dispensation in 1999

It noted in the statement signed by Prof. Julius Eteli that Alamieyeseigha’s death was curious given the fact that he regularly received medical treatment abroad, adding that the former Governor-General of the Ijaw nation had actually returned from such medical trip in Dubai believed to have been facilitated by the Bayelsa State Government
Dickson, in statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said Alamieyeseigha was a strong supporter of his administration

The Chairman of the Bayelsa State caucus in the National Assembly, Foster Ogola, condemned the plan in Yenagoa during a function where the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, was endorsed for a second term by several Non-Governmental Organisations and the civil society organisations

If the scale and intensity of the public condemnation of this pardon, at home and abroad is anything to go by, the silliness of this decision can only compare in political terms to the execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa by the late General Sani Abacha regime
