In an open letter to the President, Club De Pals expressed concern that it was becoming worrisome that despite the global attention which the genocidal attacks in some parts of the state have generated, the Federal Government continues to pay lip service to a crisis that has claimed several lives

For some anxious period, the activities of the insurgents, their fire-power and the ill-prepared and ill- equipped response by the nation’s security forces resulted in a situation where the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation was at stake. This happened when the nation’s security forces could not contain and defeat the terrorists, and in shocking moves, swathes of Nigeria’s territory in the form of some local governments and communities in places far from the presence of our security forces were commandeered and taken over by these insurgents

As a Christian leader, the President commended the relentless efforts, sacrifices and the grace of God upon the life of the General Overseer, who has over the years propagated the gospel around the world, organized large gathering of Christian worshipers and consistently counselled leaders and their citizens on living right before God

This is not to say that a few people – deep, patriotic and sensible – have not shown some appreciation of the magnitude of the many demons the President has had to confront since his coming; yet those few are drowned out by the entrenched skeptical legions that have made a daily business of traducing the President untold. Sadly, this robs the public of a sensible critique of public policies, which will better guide – not harass – the President

It would become perceptible that some Nigerians, myself along with them, had been over irked due to the enormity of a reaction from the presidential errand boy that is not only petty, but pedestrian and pitifully naïve and appears as outrageous as the late efforts of some to cover the undemocratic posture and malfeasances of the present administration
