As people of Ekiti state prepare for Saturday gubernatorial election, a group, O’odua Nationalist Coalition, (ONAC) has asked the Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro and the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) chieftain, Mr Buruji Kashamu no to come to the state during the coming election.
The group said the two Peoples Democratic Party leaders should allow the people make their choice in the Saturday election.
A statement signed by the ONAC Chairman in Ekiti State, Chief Olakunle Adebo accused the PDP leaders of leading a campaign to destabilize the South West through the conscious manipulation of the result of the June 21 election.
The statement said “We warn Mr Obanikoro and Chief Kashamu to stay away from Ekiti State. Coming to Ekiti at this time is for nothing but to cause crisis and impose an unpopular candidate on the people of Ekiti State. We warn that any attempt to destabilize Ekiti has far reaching consequences. “If they are coming to rig the election, they should think twice on how to sustain a rogue regime in Ekiti State.”
ONAC which is a coalition of several Yoruba self determination groups cautioned the Inspector General of Police, (IG) and the Independent Electoral Commission, (INEC) to conduct a free and fair poll and avoid plunging Ekiti state into an unnecessary turmoil.
The group stated “Across Ekiti state, the information is that INEC in collaboration with the Presidency has written the result of the June 21 election in advance. People in Ekiti are told that the election is a mere formality and that the PDP candidate, Mr Fayose will be declared at gun point. We warn the Nigerian political class to realize that by imposing unwanted candidates on the electorate, the Federal Government is setting the basis for civil uprising which may truncated the democratic process.
“We call on these two individuals to stay away from Ekiti state and allow the people to choose their elected leader out of their free will.”
ONAC noted that the June 21 election is about the survival of democracy in Nigeria, warning that any alteration of the June 21 election result will certainly lead to grave consequences.
