The Soun of Ogbomoso in Oyo State, Oba Oladunni Ajagungbade, is hale and hearty, his Secretary, Toyin Alamu, has said.
Alamu told the News Agency of Nigeria in Ogbomoso on Monday that there was no truth in the speculations making the rounds that the monarch was dead.
NAN reports that there had been speculations around the city that the monarch had passed on.
“It was a wrong speculation and spreading of falsehood. The King is hale and hearty,” he said.
Alamu urged residents to always verify their facts and not engage in spreading false rumours capable of heightening tension.
NAN reports that the 87-year-old monarch clocked 40 years on the throne in October 2013.
