Two sisters: Blessing Ariyo, 27, and Titilayo Ariyo, 30, were on Friday arraigned in Ondo State for alleged burglary and stealing of an iPhone worth N110,000.
The defendants, who are traders and whose addresses were not given, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
They appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court but pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 8, 2022 about 5am at 10, Able Street, Okitipupa.
Orogbemi said the defendants burgled an apartment belonging to one Victoria Orogbemi and stole her iPhone 7 Plus.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 516, 412 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Chris Ojuola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each and a surety each in like sum.
Ojuola ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to Ondo State Government.
He adjourned the case until April 11 for substantive hearing.
