The vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the ongoing elections in Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, has won his polling unit in Lawan Bukar Ward of Maiduguri.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the APC scored 126 votes out of the 156 total votes cast at the unit.
The APC has former two-term Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as its presidential candidate.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, scored 22 votes, while the remaining presidential candidates, including Peter Obi of Labour Party and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party, scored zero votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s Presiding Officer, Suleiman Shehu, who announced the result, said eight ballot papers were invalid.
It will be recalled that Shettima, a former two-term Governor of Borno State, initially experienced a hiccup in the accreditation process.
He had to go home and return before he could be accredited to vote.
