Flying Eagles’ goalkeeper, Sunday Dele Alampasu, has been effectively ruled out of the preliminary stage of the ongoing African Youth Championship, Senegal 2015, due to an arm injury.
The Estriol of Portugal new buy, who was left out of the team’s clash against Senegal, broke his arm in one of the team’s build up towards the Under 20 Championship.
The towering goaltender has been advised by the team’s medics to take some rest in order to return to get better ahead of the knock out stages of the competition.
While commending teammate, Joshua Enahoro, who manned the goal for the Flying Eagles, Alampasu informed that is he close to full fitness and would be ready to play a part in the second round.
He said: “I believe we have a complete team and anybody is capable of starting the games.
“Joshua (Enahoro) is a great goalkeeper and I have a lot of respect for him.
“He did a yeoman job against Senegal and we would keep supporting him.
“I’m also confident that I will get back to shape and give Nigeria a good representation here.
“We are focused and we would not be carried away by the euphoria of the victory over Senegal.”
Alampasu, who was voted best goalkeeper at the 2013 Fifa U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, joined Estriol on the eve of the African Youth Championship.
