Senators question Obanikoro’s reappointment as minister by Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday requested the Senate to confirm Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Fidelis Nwanko (Ebonyi State) and six others for ministerial appointments.
However, some senators questioned the reappointment of Obanikoro, who was only last year screened and appointed as minister.
Obanikoro left the Federal Executive Council late last year to seek for the governorship seat of Lagos State.
When his name was mentioned during plenary on Tuesday, senators, largely of the All Progressives Congress, shouted.
The major question on the lips of most of them was: Again?
He was Minister of State for Defence before his exit.
Others whose names were forwarded to the Senate were Hauwa Lawan (Jigawa State), Senator Patricia Akwashiki (Nasarawa State), Prof. Nicolas Ada (Benue State), Joel Danladi (Taraba State), Kenneth Kobanni (Rivers State) and Augustine O. (Abia State).
The nominations are to fill the vacuum left behind by some ministers who resigned to contest the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Most of them, including Obanikoro, lost the party’s ticket.
