Facts have emerged that the former Commissioner for Housing in Rivers State, Marshal Uwom, lied that he resigned his position because the state Governor, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Facts at the disposal of The Eagle Online has it that Amaechi prevailed on Uwom to resign because of alleged corruption cases.
Uwom, according to a source who craved anonymity, was said to have perpetrated series of corrupt practices.
However, rather than outrightly sack him, Amaechi was said to have demanded for his letter of resignation.
Uwom, according to sources had been involved in several cases of corruption over which he had been queried.
However, the last of such cases involved the commissioner and his former colleague in the Ministry of Urban Development, Dr. Tammy W. Danagogo.
However, while Danagogo quit without any issue, Uwom was said to have capitalised on the political crisis in the state to realign himself with the PDP.
A source in the Rivers State Government told The Eagle Online that the government was not prepared to comment on the issue for now.
He said: “We are waiting and watching.
“The fact that nothing has been said from this end does not mean that we have nothing to say from our end.
“We are only dignifying Uwon with our silence.”
The ex-commissioner could however not be reached as at press time for his position on the issue.
