The Lagos State Police Command has warned criminals involved in cult and other nefarious activities to steer clear of the state in their own interest.
The command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, issued the warning in a statement he issued on Wednesday.
Hundeyin said intelligence at the disposal of the police revealed that some unlawful hoodlums and cultists had perfected plans to celebrate what they called “7/7 Neo Black Movement of Africa aka Black Axe Day” on Thursday (today).
He warned the group with evil intentions to scuttle the peace and security being enjoyed in the state to discontinue their plans or they would face the full wrath of the law.
He said the Command’s tactical teams, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in collaboration with other sister agencies had been fully mobilised to clamp down heavily on the masterminds of such sinister groups.
Hundeyin said: “The police and sister security agencies are well prepared to deal ruthless with such sinister group whose aim is to cause wanton violence in the state.
“The Command is therefore using this medium to appeal to parents and guardians to warn their children to steer clear of any unlawful gathering or society before, during and after the said date.
“Also, hoteliers are by this statement warned not to allow their facilities to be used for any cult related gathering as owners of such facilities will be liable to prosecutions.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Abiodun Alabi, has urged all residents of Lagos to be law-abiding and vigilant.
Alabi enjoined them to go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment or intimidation.
