The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said that two suspects: Adamaka Chinyere and Bolajoko Haruna, have been arrested for an attempt to abduct a secondary schoolgirl in the Ikotun area of the metropolis.
The spokesman said on his X handle the suspects had already lured the girl into their tinted Toyota Camry car.
It was after this the alarm was raised.
According to Hundeyin, people in the community noticed the movement of the unfamiliar faces in the community and became alert.
This was even as the Police Public Relations Officer urged parents to teach their children to desist from following strangers.
Hundeyin said: “Let’s teach our children not to follow strangers!
“Ikotun Police Division received information from community members about the presence of strange people moving around their neighbourhood suspiciously.
“The police moved in discreetly, quickly enough to rescue a female secondary school student they had tricked into their car and abducted.
