The Police, on Tuesday, arraigned four suspected killers of late Colonel Ismail Inusa before a Kaduna Magistrate’s Court.
The suspects were brought before Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Yusuf on four count charges of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and culpable homicide.
The suspects are Emeka Okeke, Precious Obele, Ibrahim Kabiru and Chijioke Opehi, while the fifth suspect, Dan Sokoto, is still at large.
The suspects allegedly kidnapped Inusa on March 26.
“Inusa’s body was later found on Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Chikun Local Government Area of the state,” police counsel, Kenneth Dika, told the court.
Dika added that the offences were contrary to section 6 (b), 3 (1) and 2 of Robbery and Fire Arms Special Provision as well as sections 221 and 237 of the Penal Code.
The charges were read to the suspects.
The chief magistrate explained to them that he had no jurisdiction to try them, but to prepare them for remand in prison pending police investigation.
“The purpose of the arraignment is for me to indicate to you the charges against you and make sure you understood them, and then remand you in prison for police to conclude their investigation and take you to appropriate court for trial,” Yusuf said.
Yusuf, thereafter, adjourned the case to July 21 for mentioning and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison.
