Tosin Omoyele, a player in Plateau United FC of Jos, on Tuesday said that he was excited about the opportunity to represent Nigeria against Atletico Madrid of Spain in a friendly match.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Europa League champions will go play against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the maiden GOtv MAX Cup on Tuesday evening at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
Omoyele, whose heroics at the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League is rewarded with Coach Salisu Yusuf’s call-up, is scheduled to play in the Gotv Max Cup against the Spanish giants.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria in Uyo that he was delighted and mentally prepared to impress the coach.
He said: “It’s a pleasant opportunity for me, it feels good to be called to the national team.
“It’s the second time in my career and I am prepared to give my best to justify my call-up.
“I missed the opportunity to play in the CHAN Eagles team in Morocco earlier in the year but I’m really grateful for this opportunity.”
Omoyele scored seven goals so far in the current season and confident of Plateau United chances as they sit at third position in the league.
He said: “We are doing well in the league, it’s a very tough competition but with hard work, we shall come out tops at the end.”
