Pius Adesanmi, Canada-based public intellectual and winner of the inaugural Penguin Prize for African Writing in the non-fiction category, will deliver the second edition of the state of the nation lecture series of the Save Nigeria Group.
The distinguished lecture will hold in Lagos on November 12, 2012 under the chairmanship of Mrs. Priscilla Kuye, SAN, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Renowned poet, Prof. Niyi Osundare, delivered the first edition of the SNG lecture series in July 2012.
Describing Pius Adesanmi as “one of Nigeria’s brightest new generation intellectuals of progress,” Yinka Odumakin, spokesman of the SNG, enthused that “Adesanmi will surely sustain the tempo” generated by Osundare.
Adesanmi, who holds a BA (First Class Honours), an MA, and a PhD, all in French, currently teaches literature and African Studies at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
He is a widely-cited commentator on Nigerian and African affairs.
His SNG lecture is entitled “REPARATIONS: WHAT NIGERIA OWES THE TORTOISE.”
The lecture holds at NECA Building in the Central Business District, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos at 10am prompt.
Among high profile guests expected at the lecture are the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Chris Cooter, and Cardinal John Onaiyekan.
