A group in the Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP Synergy League, has urged the the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who has just been appointed as the Chairman of the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force, to ignore the position of the Action Congress of Nigeria on his acceptance of the offer.
The ACN, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said that Ribadu, who was the party presidential flag bearer in the 2011 general election, was taking the appointment in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the party.
The party said it remains steadfast with its position that none of its members should work with the PDP-led Federal Government.
Ribadu, in his own response yesterday, said he was taking the offer in order to serve the country.
The PDP Synergy League has, however, admonished Ribadu to ignore the ACN over its criticism of taking up the appointment with the Federal government.
In a statement signed by its Spokesman, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the group said that the ACN backstabbed Ribadu during the last presidential election by nominating him as its candidate yet negotiated away his candidacy to satisfy the unbridled ambition of its party leader.
The group said that only a party without scruple can undo its own vaunted agenda.
