The Coach of Delta Para-soccer team, Adamu Abdullahi, has lamented his sides 0-2 loss to their counterparts in a semi-final match at the ongoing 2018 World Polio Day National Para-soccer Championship, blaming it on fate.
Abdullahi, made the lamentation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos while reflecting on the match, said his team went for victory prepared but it did not come to them.
He said: “Kano is a very strong team and we were fully prepared for them which was proven during the match, they were fully held down during first half.
“Our goal attempts were many but they were fortunate to convert their few opportunities to goals.
“We have taken it in good fate because a winner must emerge. It is a game, we have won many others too.”
On expectations from the third place match, the coach was very optimistic.
He said: “Katsina is also a good side, but we will prove our might to them.”
However, Kano Para-soccer skipper, Abdullahi Muhammad (popularly called “Ortega”) was excited about their victory, saying: “Our match against Delta was a derby because three of our great players left for Delta which was a great concern to us.
“That accounted for that very tough match we played today but we thank God we came out victorious.
“But we are ready to lift this cup for the fifth time on Wednesday.”
But James Jatau, Coach of Kaduna team, said the final would be interesting.
Jatau said: “We are ready to win the match this time around, my boys are ready.”
NAN reports that Kano will play against their neighbours, Kaduna in the final match of the tournament on later Wednesday.
The final match will be part of activities to mark the world Polio Day as declared by United Nations every October 24 to raise awareness on dangers of poliomyelitis.
