The Oyo State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists on Monday in Ibadan inaugurated new executive members to steer the ship of the chapel for the next three years.
The seven members of the executives were sworn in after the chapel election held at its secretariat.
The newly inaugurated members are Olaoluwa Ajayi of Vanguard newspaper as Chairman; Waheed Adebayo of Leadership newspaper as Vice-Chairman; and Adeboye Ajayi of the News Agency of Nigeria as Secretary.
Yinka Adeniran of Newswatch emerged the new Assistant General Secretary, while Akeem Abas of NAN was elected the new Treasurer.
Jide Jegede of Witness online was elected the new Financial Secretary, while Olawale Ajao of Alaroye newspaper won the office of Auditor.
The new Chairman of the chapel, in his acceptance speech, promised to take the chapel to greater heights.
Ajayi, who said that the new executive members would set new standards, solicited the cooperation of members.
Olaide Oyelude, the Chairman of the Credentials Committee, described the election as hitch-free.
Oyelude said that the turn-out for the election was impressive, saying both the State and National Councils of the NUJ were carried along in the process.
He urged the winners to be magnanimous in victory while committing themselves to the task of moving the chapel forward.
NAN reports that the inauguration, which was conducted by a lawyer, Peter Idowu, was attended by members and observers from various media houses.
