Over 280,000 residences in Niger to get prepaid meters — AEDC

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has disclosed that over 280,000 consumers in Niger State are to benefit in the newly launched Meter Access Provider for Prepaid Meters.

Speaking on Friday at the launch of the the MAP programme in Minna, the Managing Director AEDC, Engr. Ernest Mupwaya, said: “The vendors selected for AEDC are MOJEC to handle the FCT and Kogi State, TURBO ENERGY to operate in Niger State, while MERON will cover Nasarawa State.

According to the MD, who was represented by Usman Makun: “In all, over 900,000 customers have been scheduled for metering in AEDC areas.

“But in Niger, we have over 280,000 customers.

“And the project is expected to last for 36 months.

“The state government has assured that it will augment payments.”

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmad Ketso, urged Nugerlites to take advantage of the new programme, adding: “We will augment for low income earners.”

Ketso, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Sadeek Balarabe, said: “280,000 residences will be metered in Niger State and I urge all residents to purchase the -repaid meter so as to put an end to estimated billings.”

In his address, the Managing Director, Turbo Energy, Engr. Daniel Obemure, assured that its priority is to deliver quick, quantitative and efficient service in the state.

According to Obemure: “We have chosen one of the best meters for the state.

“Our meter is reliable and guarantees 99.9% reading and billing accuracy.”
