Two journalists with Television Continental, Lagos – Ayodeji Moradeyo (reporter) and Binafia Miebi (cameraman) – were allegedly attacked on Thursdayat at the state headquarters of the  Peoples Democratic Party in Osogbo, Osun State.
Moradeyo and Miebi after the attack are also reported to have been taken into custody by yet to be identified security agents.
The duo, who work for the television station believed to be owned by the National Leader of the opposition All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were said to have gone to the PDP headquarters for the clarification of a story.
They were allegedly attacked by members of the PDP at the secretariat.
Reacting, the Osun State chapter of the APC said the attack is in the character of the PDP.
The APC described the PDP as a party known for violence and total disregard for the rights of human beings.
It added: “The All Progressives Congress as a law abiding political organisation condemns in entirety the jackboot democracy and the closure of the democratic space against Nigerians.
“This is a replay of the Ekiti gubernatorial election where journalists and APC party loyalists were hounded and brutalised without aggression against all known laws of the land. The arrest and deportation of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, OSBC, Press Crew Members on June 21 during Ekiti militarised and manipulated governorship election speaks volume of the erosion and aggression against the Nigerian Constitution.”
The statement was signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary in Osun State, Kunle Oyatomi.
