The Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has directed the contractor handling the Igarra-Ojirami-Damgbala-Uneme-Osu -Ososo Road in Akoko Edo Local Government Area to hasten the pace of work.
Oshiomhole, who gave the directive when he paid an unscheduled visit to the project site, told the Operations Manager of Hartland Nigeria Limited, Bancod Laurent, that he was not happy with the slow pace of work because of the rainy season that was fast approaching.
He was particularly unhappy that the asphalting of the road began from the outskirt of the town, while the area inhabited by people was yet to be done.
In the words of the governor: “I am not satisfied with the pace of work. You should have started asphalting from where people are living instead of working in the bush. My best friends are those that do their work well.”
Laurent assured the governor that in the next one week there will be improvement on the road construction.
According to him: “By one month time, we must have got to the bridge by Ojirami Dam.”
It would be recalled that the contract for the construction of the Igarra through Ojirami-Damgbala Unemosu to Ososo road, earlier awarded to Servetek Construction Company, was revoked by the state government for incompetence and re-awarded to Hartland Nigeria Limited.
