Okah brothers did not abduct Clark’s son – Lawyers

The lawyers of the Okah brothers, Henry and Charles, have denied allegations by foremost Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, that they were behind the abduction of his son, Ebikeme.
The position of the Okah brothers is coming on the heels of the accusation by Clark that Henry and Charles Okah were the masterminds of the kidnap of Ebikeme, who has since been freed.
The Okahs, in a statement by their lawyers, said the position of Clark is far from the truth.
They described the statement by Clark as outlandish and outrageous.
The statement, signed John Ainetor and Benedicta N. Obanye of the Festus Keyamo Chambers, reads in full: “The attention of the family of our clients, Henry and Charles Okah has been drawn to widely published reports in the media that respected elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has accused Henry and Charles Okah of the recent abduction of his son, Mr. Ebikeme Clark.
“Our clients and their family members have instructed us to deny such outlandish and outrageous accusation in its entirety. The accusation is factually wrong and logically untenable.
“Firstly, our clients are in prison custody both in South Africa prisons and Kuje prisons, Abuja. They are under the watchful guidance of security agencies. It is therefore unthinkable that such a complex plot as a kidnap will be hatched and executed from such distance and confinement. That will be a scathing indictment of security agencies and prison officials.
“Secondly, it is curious that Chief Clark never mentioned any other fact to back his accusation. His accusation is hanging in the air and is, at best, a figment of his imagination.
“Whilst our clients’ family accords the elder statesman his respect on account of age, they will like to state that they will not fold their arms and watch helplessly as Chief Clark seeks to apply the sledge hammer on their sons that have already been wrongly accused and oppressed as a result of hire-wired politics. They intend to seek legal redress if Chief Clark continues his diatribe against them.”
