Ogun LP holds Ward Congress

Members of the Labour Party in Ogun State on Saturday trooped out en-masse to elect party officers to run the affairs of the party at ward levels in the state in line with the directive of the National Working Committee of the party.
The exercise, which commenced at 10am, was witnessed and supervised by all the required agencies, including the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Department of State Service, as well as members of the Nigeria Police Force.
Reports across the state indicate that the congress was peaceful in all wards, as there were no incidents of violence recorded.
The local governments where the exercise took place included Imeko Afon, Yewa North, Yewa South, Ipokia, Ado Odo Ota, Sango Ota, Ewekoro, Ifo, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, ,Odeda, Obafemi Owode, Remo North, Ikenne, Sagamu, Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu North East, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside.
According to the Acting Chairman of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Comrade John Olaleye, the exercise was a huge success going by the overwhelming enthusiasm shown by party members in their collective resolve to rout the ruling party in the state in the forthcoming elections.
Eyewitnesses at the Odeda Local Government Area collation centres report that going by the turn-out of members of the Labour Party in the local government area, and the peaceful manner in which the affairs of the party was conducted, the party has shown enough seriousness as the party to beat in the 2015 general election.
At Odogbolu, both old and young trooped out to take part in the ward congress in what appears to be their expression of approval for and endorsement of the party as an alternative platform.
