Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange reopened for the week on a bearish trend as the market capitalisation dropped N22 billion or 0.16 per cent.
The News Agency of Nigerian reports that the market capitalisation closed lower at N13.532 trillion from the N13.554 trillion recorded on Friday, following the price losses recorded by some major stocks.
Also, the All-Share Index, which opened at 41,049.27, dropped by 65.15 points to close at 40,984.12.
Unilever led the losers’ chart by N1.74 to close at N48.26 per share.
Dangote Cement depreciated by N1.15 to close at N222.85, while ETI lost 9k to close at N18.1 per share.
International Breweries dipped by 64K to close at N28.36 and GTBank dropped 44k to close at N28.51 per share.
On the other hand, Nestle led the gainers’ chart by N19.9 to close at N1069.9 per share.
Seplat gained N10 to close at N650, while Lafarge Wapco grew by N3.5 to close at N131 per share.
Julius Berger appreciated by N3.2 to close at N67.2, while PZ Cussons increased by N1.6 to close at N34.99 per share.
The financial services sector came as the investors’ delight as FBN Holdings emerged the most traded equity.
The sector accounted for a turnover of 65.23 million shares worth N920.82 million.
Wapic Insurance followed with an exchanged 52.94 million shares valued at N40.25 million, while Skye Bank sold 29.07 million shares worth N79.49 million.
However, the volume of shares traded dropped by 40.55 per cent as investors exchanged a total of 344.982 million shares worth N4.14 billion in 4,663 deals.
This was against the 580.25 million shares valued at N4.64 billion traded in 4,388 deals on Friday.
