Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi on Wednesday beat visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi 2-1 in a Match Day 8 fixture of the ongoing 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the match was played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
The host team’s captain, Idris Guda, opened scores in the seventh minute.
Lobi Stars drew level through Abba Umar in the 34th minute, while Guda made it a brace for himself in the 38th minute to restore the hosts lead.
During the post-match conference, the Technical Manager of Lobi Stars, Baba Ganaru, appreciated God for ensuring the Group B fixture ended well for them.
Ganaru said: “We had several goalscoring attempts and efforts, but WIkki Tourists were lucky to have the game ending 2-1 against my team.
“But it was a fantastic match for both teams as they all played well.”
On his part, Abdullah Bura, the Head Coach of WIkki Tourists FC, said it was a good match and also appreciated God for the victory.
Bura said their plan for the next match was to go get another point, adding that his intention was to stabilise their performance before the second stanza.
NAN reports that Wikki Tourists FC are now in the eighth position on the 10-club Group B log with eight points from eight matches.
