The New Nigeria Peoples Party in Bauchi State has pledged to conduct Local Government Council election within six months, if elected into power.
The Party gubernatorial candidate in the State, Shuaibu Adamu, gave the assurance on Sunday while addressing supporters of the party in Bauchi.
Adamu said the local government election was a move that would restore the lost dignity and independence of local governments’ administration in the state.
He said: “If we are elected in to power in Bauchi state in 2019, one of the many things we will do, within six months is to conduct Local Government Councils Election.
“This, I believe is a move which would restore the lost dignity and independence of local governments’ administration in the state.
The governorship hopeful also promised to declare zero tolerance for corruption for efficient and transparent delivery of Public Services and reduce waste and improve effectiveness.
Speaking on job creation in the state, Adamu said the state had the capacity to make use of the vast, endowed hectares of lands in the state for farming, thereby creating job opportunities for the people.
He said: “Bauchi state has the capacity to turn all the thousands of hectares of land in the state GREEN all year round, utilising them for growing various food and cash crops.
“This, I believe would serve as a tremendous job opportunities for our people.
“A new Bauchi state is indeed possible, a Bauchi State, characterised by an unrelenting quest for the good of the greatest number of our people, putting them first in all decisions and actions of government.
“This is what the citizens of Bauchi State want, and this is what our party, NNPP and myself, as governor, are offering and promising.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Local government Election has not been conducted in Bauchi state since 2015.
