Speaking to Journalist on Thursday in his maiden meeting in Minna at the Command headquarters, the new Commissioner of Police Mr. Olusola Emmanuel Amore said that a total number of 65 raids were carried across the state.
According to him “crime wave in Niger state between August and September has drastically reduced and this is due to regular patrols and constant raids of criminal hideouts and black spots.
“In the period under review, a total number of 65 raids were carried out across the state and a total number of 182 suspects were arrested. 39 suspects were screened out and 143 suspects were charged to court with first information report (FIR) for different offences.
“A total of 124 suspects were convicted while 19 others awaiting trial and 103 exhibits were recovered in connection with the cases.”
The COMPOL however disclosed that the welfare of the men and officers of the Police in Niger state is paramount.
He added that the command has re-strategized its modus operandi in order to make sure that the crime wave is reduced to the barest minimum by focusing mainly on community policing.
“My slogan is ‘Together we can’. We will fight crime; protect lives and properties; add value to governance. We will bring police service closer to the people; we will serve the people and not harass or intimidate them,” he added.
