After beating a security guard of the Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru to a state of coma, the Non Academic Staff Union, Niger State Polytechnic chapter, on Wednesday called for the removal of the state Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Aminu Yusuf, as a member of the institution’s Governing Council.
Yusuf allegedly assaulted the security man without justification while he was directing him to the parking lot.
According to a statement signed by the NASU Chairman, Mallam Adamu Zakari, and made available to our correspondent in Minna, the PDP scribe slapped the security guard repeatedly without justification.
Zakari said in the statement: “A member of the governing council of Niger State Polytechnic Zungeru, Alhaji Aminu Yusuf and PDP State Secretary on February 3, 2014 being Monday slapped a security guard of the polytechnic to a state of coma at the main gate of the polytechnic.
“The security guard was only showing him where he is suppose to pass, when he furiously went of his car and beat him off.”
Zakari said the action was too harsh and unfortunate, considering Yusuf’s status in the institution as a member of the Governing Council.
He added: “For him to descend low and slap the security guard at his duty post, while discharging his duty, it means he can no longer be a member of the council.
“I condemn the action of the governing council member in the strongest term and demand his removal from the governing council of the institution in order to forestall further re-occurrence of such incidence in future.”
Yusuf confirmed slapping the security guard.
He said he was rude and disrespectful to him.
He, however, denied causing him any harm or ordering anybody to beat the security guard.
