The Nigeria Football Federation has mourned the passing of a Member of its Executive Committee, Alhaji Hussaini Modibbo.
Modibbo died on Wednesday evening after a protracted illness.
“We are devastated. Alhaji Modibbo was one of the most adorable members of the NFF Board because he went about his business quietly and with dignity. Ourselves and the entire Nigerian football family will miss him dearly,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.
Modibbo was elected into the NFF Board alongside other members in the present dispensation on September 30, 2014.
He was the chairman of the Strategic Studies Committee before it was dissolved, alongside other committees, in December 2015.
He was also chairman of the Taraba State Football Association.
The easy-going administrator attended Muhammadu Nya Primary School, the Government Secondary School, Yola and Kaduna Polytechnic, where he earned Higher National Diploma in Journalism.
The 63-year-old served as a Permanent Secretary in the Taraba State Broadcasting Corporation and the Taraba State Ministry of Youth and Sports, before retiring as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Welfare and Co-operatives.
He was survived by a wife and four children.
The late Modibbo was buried on Thursday morning, according to Islamic rites.
Officials confirmed on Thursday that a delegation of NFF chieftains to be led by 2nd Vice President/LMC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, will be in Jalingo on Saturday for the three days prayer starting at 7am.
Other members of the delegation are Executive Committee members Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Yusuf Ahmed Fresh, Sharif Rabiu Inuwa and Babagana Kalli, LMC Chief Operating Officer Salihu Abubakar, Assistant Director (Finance) Chris Andekin and Personal Assistant to the NFF President, Nasiru Jibril.
