The Acting President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Mike Umeh, has denied that he was arrested by the men of the Department of the State Security on Tuesday as reported by a section of the media (not The Eagle Online).
Reports claimed that the NFF stalwart was quizzed by the DSS over a planned executive committee meeting to review niggling issues concerning the NFF polls and was also queried for trying to chair an executive committee meeting, which would have addressed some of these issues, including the failure of most aspirants to get nomination forms for the August 26 elections into the executive board.
But Umeh in telephone chat with The Eagle Online on Tuesday refuted the news, claiming there was no iota of truth in the report.
His words: “Is it not me that is talking to you now?
“And what I have I done to be arrested?
“I only went out alongside Deji Tinubu for just an hour to have a meal and I returned to the office.
“So, I don’t know where the arrest story is coming from.
“However, I want to admonish our media men to confirm and be sure of their briefs before going to press.”
