Joel Obi is on the radar of Newcastle United, according to the latest press reports in Italy.
The 22-year-old, currently at Parma on a season loan, is owned by Inter Milan and is unlikely to command a place in Walter Mazzarri’s first-team plans in the 2014-15 campaign.
Obi joined Inter in 2005 and was an important part of several successful youth sides, including a title-winning team of 2008.
Jose Mourinho championed Obi’s cause when he took over at Inter, having been impressed by his potential and he was included in the squad that won the Champions League final, even though he didn’t play.
