The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has set machinery in motion to begin its sixth edition of the Annual National Undergraduates Essay competition.
The organisers of the academic event explained that the competition is officially slated to commence nationwide on Monday, July 18, 2022.
A statement issued Tuesday by Eyinimi Omorozi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mahogany 21st Century Concepts Limited, consultants to NCDMB on the academic exercise, noted that the ANUEC competition is themed: ‘Nigeria and the Drive for Global Transformation to Clean Energy.’
Omorozi said the 2022 edition series of the prestigious NCDMB flagship event was designed to promote academic excellence for Nigerian young undergraduates in the country’s tertiary institutions.
He also said the programme would also keep them abreast of the Nigerian Content Policy to encourage the youths to build local capacities and competencies to prepare for effective participation in the Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Omorozi said: “The 2022 edition will come to a close on the 7th of September, 2022 with an award/prize giving ceremony in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
“The star prize is N1,000,000.00 (N1m) for the best essay and all top 10 finalists will win cash prizes and a laptop each.
“The NCDMB Annual National Undergraduate Essay competition is open to only first and second year students in public and privately-owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Eligible students are advised to log on to the programme’s website to enter for the academic exercise beginning from the commencement date.”
Recall that a second-year student of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Enomfon Akpan, emerged winner of the 5th edition of the NCDMB essay competition.
Akpan won the star prize of N1m and a laptop at the award ceremony which was held in Yenagoa.
