Nasarawa Government has donated N10 million to victims of rainstorm that wreaked havoc to residents of Doma in Doma Local Government Area a fortnight ago.
Governor Tanko Al-Makura announced the donation on Thursday when he visited Doma to sympathise with Alhaji Aliyu Oga, the Traditional Ruler and Andoma of Doma and people of the area over the disaster.
He expressed shock over the level of devastation from the rainstorm and the plight of the victims, assuring that the state government would do its best to bring succour to them.
The governor said that apart from the N10 million donation, the state government had notified Federal Government about the peoples’ situation and had gotten assurances of assistance soon through the National Emergency Management Agency to ameliorate their plight.
Al-Makura also reassured the people of timely completion of the intra-city road being constructed in Doma, adding that more projects would be executed in the area by the current administration.
The traditional ruler, who assured the governor of the peoples’ continuous support, lauded the Al-Makura-led administration “for the overall transformation of Nasarawa State.
The monarch thanked the governor for the donation, saying a committee had been set up to take stock of those affected by the disaster and promised that money would be disbursed to affected persons appropriately.
The andoma prayed for God’s blessings, strength and protection for the governor.
