The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools on Friday released the results of the 2015 Unified Examinations for private schools in Lagos State.
Chief Yomi Otubela, the Chairman of the Examinations Committee, who announced this, said the exercise recorded an average performance of 51.2 per cent pass in Mathematics, 53.7 per cent pass in English and 52.6 per cent pass in General Paper.
Otubela said 9,785 candidates from 383 private schools wrote the exams, out of which 352 schools’ results were released.
He said: “The results of the remaining 31 schools are still pending.
“Some candidates’ results could not be released due to the inability of the candidates to correctly use Optical Mark Recognition sheets.
“This is in spite of the fact that we organised various workshops to train stakeholders on how to use OMR sheets appropriately.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the unified examination for Basic 3 -5, JSS 1 &2 and SSS 1 & 2 was inaugurated to enforce standards and compliance with the approved curriculum in private schools in the state.
Otubela noted that some of the candidates could not also shade their examination numbers or centres numbers correctly.
On the significance of the examination, he said it had helped to prepare the pupils for external examinations such as WAEC, JAMB, among others.
The NAPPS boss, however, advised stakeholders to prepare ahead of the 2016 edition as registration would commence in September and close in March 2016.
