Mawlud: Muslim Media holds lecture on good governance

Good governance among others will dominate the 11th annual lecture of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, Abuja chapter on Monday in Abuja.
In a statement by the Chairman of MMPN, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the lecture is to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Mawlud Nabiyy), which is on December 12.
Balogun said the lecture, entitled: “The Islamic position on good governance,” would be held at National Mosque Conference Hall, Abuja.
The lecture, which was 11th in the series, would be delivered by an Abuja-based Islamic Scholar and Chief Imam of the Nigerian Navy, Shaykh Taofiq Miqdad Gidado.
Other expected guests are Alhaji Abubakar Jijiwa, former Director-General, Voice of Nigeria, as Chairman of the occasion; Dr. Garba Abari, the Director-General, National Orientation Agency; the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Muhammad Bello, as Chief Host; while the Ministers of Communication, Education, Information and Culture as well as Women Affairs are being expected.
Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and head of media establishments among other dignitaries and Islamic groups are also expected at the lecture.
The Federal Government of Nigeria declares as public holiday every 12th Rabiul Awwal, in Islamic calendar year, which this year falls on December 12, as a day to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
