The Senate President, Senator David Mark, on Monday condoled President Goodluck Jonathan and his family on the death of his younger sister, Nancy Jonathan- Olei.
The President’s sister passed on in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Sunday.
Mark, in the condolence message signed in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, expressed sadness over the untimely death of Jonathan-Olei.
He said her death has robbed the nation of her worthy enterprise.
The Senate president condoled the first family and the entire citizens of Bayelsa State over the sad loss.
He urged them to take solace in the fact that although the late Jonathan-Olei lived a short life, she left a good legacy and indeed impacted positively on her immediate environment.
According to Mark: “I received the news of the death of your dear sister with shock.
“I earnestly identify with you and share in this painful loss.
“I pray that the good Lord give you the fortitude to bear this pain and grant our beloved sister eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State on Monday also condoled with President Jonathan and his family over the death of Jonathan-Olei.
The Chief Press Secretary to Amaechi, David Iyofor, said this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt.
Iyofor quoted Amaechi as saying the people of Rivers State shared the pain of losing a loved one.
Amaechi said: “We understand the pain and grief of losing a loved one.
“The pain of an untimely death is immeasurable, and we pray that God grants Mr President and the entire family of the bereaved the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
Amaechi said the prayers and thoughts of Rivers State people were with Mr. President and the family of the bereaved in their moment of grief.
“We also pray that the soul of the deceased rest in the bosom of the Almighty,” he added.
