An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 39-year-old man, Akeem Olayiwola, in a correctional facility over alleged armed robbery.
Olayiwola, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy.
The Magistrate, S. Zubair, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
Zubair directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and, thereafter, adjourned the case till January 30, 2024 for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Oladejo Balogun, told the court that Olayiwola committed the offences on September 5 at about 4:15 a.m. at Moniya area of Ibadan.

Balogun said that the defendant and others at large, while armed with guns, robbed some residents of Moniya area of their belongings, including: phones, cars, electrical gadgets and other valuables.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 6(b) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004.
