Embattled former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, has been set free by the Department of State Service.
Maigari was arrested on Tuesday by operatives of the DSS on Tuesday.
Our Abuja source hinted that the Bauchi State-born soccer administrator was released along with Barrister Chris Green.
The source said Maigari was released on Wednesday morning by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police after he was handed to the police by the DSS.
The source added that no charges were pressed against him.
Neither was he nor Green questioned.
It was also learnt that Maigari’s arrest was on orders of former Rivers State Police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu, who is now an Assistant Inspector General of Police.
Meanwhile, the world football governing body, FIFA, is expected to state its position on the unfolding drama.
