The Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the discovery of a corpse of a worker with Sanga Local Government Area, Malam Salisu Ibrahim-Bagudu.
Spokesman of the command, Aminu Lawal, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Zaria that the body was found around the premises of the state Sharia Court of Appeal, Zaria.
Lawal said that Ibrahim-Bagudu was knocked down by a hit and run driver on September 28 in Zaria.
The spokesman said that the bumper and number plate of the vehicle were recovered from the scene of the incident.
He said that investigation into the matter was ongoing to fish out the driver of the vehicle with the bumper and number plate.
Alhaji Jafaru Ibrahim-Bagudu, a brother to the deceased, had earlier told the police that his late brother was killed on the said date while on his way to Muhammad Aminu Square.
Ibrahim-Bagudu, who is also the Madaucin Zazzau, said that his late brother used to go for morning jogging every weekend at the square.
The deceased’s brother, however, added that his brother must have been killed by a ritualist who had trailed and killed him before reaching the square.
“After killing him, the ritualist tampered with the body by removing his vein and dumping his body around the Sharia Court premises,” he said.
The traditional ruler added that the deceased’s whereabout was unknown until a phone call was received from the police that a corpse had been discovered.
He said the caller indicated that the attention of the family members was needed to identify the body.
Ibrahim-Bagudu said that after inspecting the corpse, they discovered that his vein had been removed.
