To ensure a hitch-free local government election on Saturday, Edo state government has announced that human and vehicular movement will be restricted from morning till evening.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Edo state governor, Peter Okhiria, reads “in view of the Local Government election holding in the state tomorrow, Saturday, 20th April, 2013, the Government of Edo State hereby wishes to inform the general public that there will be restriction of movement from 6:00am to 5:00pm during which the election will hold.
“Only security personnel, electoral officers, accredited election observers, accredited press men and others on essential duty are exempted from this restriction order.
“We wish to also implore the electorate to go about their civic duties without fear of molestation, intimidation and attack as the security agencies are under strict instructions to arrest and deal decisively with anyone who may want to cause a breach of the peace in the state before, during and after the elections.
“Travelers to any part of Edo State are please advised to comply with the order”.
