Lagos: One dead as Yoruba Nation agitators, police clash + Video

One person has been reported dead in Ojota area of Lagos State following a clash between Yoruba Nation agitators and operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.

It was learnt that the Yoruba Nation agitators had gathered for a rally in the area without obtaining a permit from the police.

This was said to have led to the deployment of police operatives to the Ojota area.

The Eagle Online further learnt that as members of the group gathered, some allegedly attacked a vehicle bearing the logo of the All Progressives Congress.

This it was learnt, led to the intervention of the policemen, who had been deployed.

The police operatives were reported to have fired gunshots into the area, with a stray bullet hitting one of the agitators.

He died on the spot.

The agitators, who outnumbered the policemen initially on ground, burnt one of their patrol vehicles.

Reinforcement was later sought, with more policemen, including those of the Rapid Response Squad, joining the battle against the agitators for Yoruba Nation.

One of the leaders of the Yoruba Nation agitators in the area, Sautin Igboho, who called the attention of the leader of the group who has been in dentition in Benin Republic for close to two years, Sunday Igboho, and that of the Leader of Ilana Omo Odua Worldwide, Prof. Banji Akintoye, to the development, vowed that they would burn the police station in the area.

The closest to the spot is Ketu Divisional Police Headquarters.

Sautin said two of his members were killed by stray bullets.

He said: “There is war in Yorubaland o.

“Our people have been killed.

“There’s be trouble in Yorubaland.

“Our people have been killed.”

Sautin then went on to strip naked, revealing charms on his body.

However, calm has been restored.

Vehicular and human movements have since resumed in the area.
