The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, has rated his ministry’s budget performance at 95 per cent in respect to total appropriation released, while affirming the commitment of the Federal Government to implementing the 2012 appropriation as passed by the National Assembly.
Wogu stated this on Tuesday when he received the members of the House of Representatives Committee on Labour Employment and Productivity, led by its Chairman, Hon. Essien Ekpenyong Ayi, who were on oversight visit to his office.
He said: “The percentage performance for the Ministry, Departments and Parastatals of the Ministry of Labour and Productivity as at today with respect to funds already accessed is 95.8 per cent and the executive is as desirous as the National Assembly to implement the 2012 budget to the fullest
“I want to re-assure you that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and members of his team are poised to make sure that at the end of this year, 2012 budget would have been fully executed.”
The minister urged National Assembly to continue to support the Transformation Agenda of Jonathan, adding that the committee should visit the projects of the Ministry.
“Having come here, the committee will not be stopped from visiting the areas where we have projects to look at the projects and see if what we have expended is in tandem with the money released,” Wogu said.
Earlier in his remarks, Ayi stated that the leadership of the House of Representatives has directed all committee to embark on oversight visit to MDAs under their jurisdiction, to ascertain the level of 2012 budget performance.
He commended the Ministry and its parastatals for judicious utilisation of funds released to them, saying that the Ministry’s budget performance based on the release made so far has been excellent.
