KOWA party boycotts re-run election in Adamawa

KOWA party and its supporters boycotted Saturday’s re-run election for Numan/Lamurde/Demsa Federal Constituency of Adamawa State.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of KOWA, Alhaji Umar Bobboi, said the party decided to boycott the election because it was illegal as there was an existing Abuja High Court order stopping its conduct.
The Independent National Electoral Commission stopped the party’s candidate, Laori Kwamoti, from standing for the election.
Bobboi said: “Our candidate, Mr Laori Kwamoti, who was prevented from participating by INEC, has on Friday obtained a court order stopping the election and that is why you can see that the turn-out is very low.
“What they are doing today is like scoring a goal after the referee had blown off-side.”
When contacted on the development, the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Abba Baba-Yusuf, said he was not aware of any court order stopping the election.
Baba-Yusuf said: “We have not received any court order.
“As such, we going ahead with the election.”
