The Kogi State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association is in a mourning mood.
This followed the death of one of its members, Dr. M.A. Ameh, in the attack on the state on Friday by suspected members of Boko Haram.
Three other persons were also reported dead in the attack in ajaokuta, Kogi State.
In a statement by the Chairman of the NMA in Kogi State, Dr. Attah Amhed, the doctors lamented the loss of Ameh, who was returning from a call duty.
The short statement by Ahmed reads: “It is with a heavy heart and deep sense of loss that we announce the passing away of Dr. M.A. Ameh.
“The sad event took place at about 1am today when he was returning from a call duty and ran into suspected armed robbers/Boko Haram members.
“Until his death he was an SMO with the GH Ajaokuta.
“He left behind a wife and four kids.
“Mays his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
The suspected Boko Haram members attacked Ajaokuta in the wee hours of Friday.
Apart from Ameh, three other persons were killed, including a fire truck driver, simply identified as Balogun, and a police station and bank burnt.
