The Kebbi State Governor-elect, Atiku Bagudu, on Monday expressed gratitude to the people of the state for the mandate given him to serve them.
Bagudu, who spoke to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, called for prayers to enable the incoming administration to give the people the change they desired.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Bagudu the winner having polled 477,376 votes to defeat 16 other party candidates.
Bagudu cautioned supporters of All Progressives Congress against inflammatory comments to the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to him, the victory is for the entire people of Kebbi State and no one lost in the election.
The governor-elect also appealed to the people to unite and work together irrespective of party differences for the development of the state.
He promised to lead with the highest moral principles, noting: “I will not give any preference to party affiliation and residents in the state.
“Everyone will have equal right and justice.
“We will ensure that Kebbi becomes a model of how Nigerians can live together as equals in peace and unity.”
Bagudu said his regime would provide job opportunities to the unemployed and pointed out that Kebbi State was endowed with natural and material resources.
He said: “My regime will tap from them to engage and provide employment opportunities for the youth.”
He called on the APC and PDP members to unite in moving the state forward.
